Adopted from Stephen King's stories, the series shows some of these stories which occur in a serious prison amidst a genuine woods named Maine. For the starting, the series recounts the account of Henry Deaver, a death-row lawyer, whose fate takes him back to the place where he grew up in Castle Rock where he reestablishes dim past because of the mysterious call that he has received.
If "Severance" is any indication, it's not the diverse strands of the Stephen King Extended Universe that's holding this thing together: It's André Holland... He makes Castle Rock feel like a drama, not the haunted-house ride at the county fair.
It's the essence of King the show is after, and for the most part, it does a good job of focusing in on what makes his stories so memorable in the first place: the characters.
Based on the first hour, is Castle Rock worth your time? Undoubtedly. There's a richness to this story that's sensed right off the bat, as is Abrams' penchant for "mystery box" storytelling.
Shortly after thrusting Pangborn, an established hero from several novels and films, into a wintry new mystery, we get one of the most gruesome deaths Uncle Stevie never wrote.
