Following the last seasons, season 3 centers around the the struggle an ordinary family faces in order to have a good family and save their children life, Kate, Kevin, and Randall, three brothers of the same age struggle against passing their 38th birthday.
[It's] an episode carried by two of the best actors working in TV today, but also a well-crafted, insightful, and complex piece of storytelling in its own right.
In tried and true This Is Us fashion, "R & B" managed to balance out the drama with light-hearted, sweet moments that reminded us why we fell in love with the partnership when we first got introduced to them.
R & B is mostly OK, far more at home in the past than in the present, when Randall and Beth's actions continue to feel out of character and hurtful to the point of seeming like their marriage shouldn't be able to recover.
The Pearson men are charming and sometimes it's hard to see past that in order to hold them accountable for their actions. It even works on us, the audience!
I'm not sure this season's clunky campaign storyline was worth it to get to this point, but this is easily the most interesting Randall and Beth have been all season.
