This Is Us - Season 3 Episode 08: Six Thanksgivings
Following the last seasons, season 3 centers around the the struggle an ordinary family faces in order to have a good family and save their children life, Kate, Kevin, and Randall, three brothers of the same age struggle against passing their 38th birthday.
This Is Us again experimented with form this week in "Six Thanksgivings," offering a collection of short-stories before tying them together - inevitably, effectively - in a big, emotional montage.
The show managed to sneak in some excellent moments while also sticking the landing with its touching final montage - so we'll indulge a six-storyline episode just this once.
The title of This Is Us' Thanksgiving episode promises "Six Thanksgivings," and you can bet your turkey feathers that the show delivers every single one of those feasts.
While this Thanksgiving episode is no Pilgrim Rick origin tale, it's full of the sentimental holiday moments (and drama) that butter the "This Is Us" bread every season.
You can feel [Randall's] relationship with his mother implode. The walls are caving in and Rebecca can't stop it. It is by far the best scene of the series.
Six Thanksgivings" is a quiet, impressionistic outing with a lot of emotional maturity; it offers slice-of-life storytelling while resisting the urge to tie everything together into a neat bow.
