The series features a comedy about a young man named Payton Hobart, who wants to become president of the United States. Payton tries to reach his daily dream. Payton first has to navigate the political scene that is provoking more unexpected paths. It seems that the political path in Payton's life lies in St. Sebastian High School.
The show certainly stumbles its way through to the finale, but with a second season already in the offing and a fantastic set-up for the next run, we think The Politician could eventually win the race.
Highly watchable, as Payton's campaign repeatedly surmounts seemingly insurmountable problems, and, when bits of real feeling make it through all the acid humor, even touching.
Showrunner Ryan Murphy (Glee, Feud) has pulled off the neat trick of remorselessly bashing achingly PC millennial sensibilities while celebrating the warmth of the individuals involved.
This isn't a particularly great set of episodes, but it shows a lot of flair, and it may make you eager to see the next season, which seems almost guaranteed, given Netflix's huge deal with Murphy.
