It may be quite different for a young man who lives in a strange society for his beliefs. It is the series that speaks of an Egyptian young man named Rami, the son of Egyptian immigrants in America. Rami is on a collision course in his New Jersey neighborhood, where he is drawn into two completely opposing communities. Rami tries to co-exist with the Muslim community that believes life is a constant test, and his thousands of friends who believe that life is a possibility and reality.
Ramy is a comedy, and it's a good one, but its clear priority is to have the jokes emerge from the characters being so carefully drawn, and from the worldview so frankly explored.
It's a portrait of an American Muslim family never before seen in a sitcom, because these kinds of characters are never allowed to be this complicated.
