A series which full of events of drama and comedy adventures of the twins Maya and Anna. The series begins its events where there's an exclusive fashion show at the local nursing home. Somehow Anna and Maya make it in, but feelings of inadequacy lead them down a shady path. On the other hand, Maya gets a questionable nickname during a school project. Anna goes along with it, resulting in a test of their friendship and identities.
"PEN15" is incredibly smart about the way it explores the social dynamics shaping (and being shaped by) young adults - in this case, in the early 2000s.
It feels so authentic that it actually borders on suffocating at times. Luckily, it's also very funny; Erskine in particular seems destined for big things.
PEN15 rolls out like a sketch show, flying from one awkward, funny little moment to the next, until it dawns on you that there's a certain dearth of "so what" to it.
