The second season seems to be diverse as it offers a powerful series of drama. The season opens with Amanda pleading for a halt to the execution of Gary Bell, while Sydney has to resolve the death of the faint wife in a locked cell after Jordi, who knows the victim's wife who refused to file a complaint, was arrested. The evidence of the false arrest and lying by Jordi and the statement of Margaret raises doubts in Sydney's mind about his innocence.

The setting's squares and spires looked suitably dreamy. Grantchester feels more like a Sunday night drama than a Wednesday one: cosy, nostalgic and gently compelling. Norton but nice.
