The animation series deals with daily adventures by a kind-hearted farmer who dreams of horsemanship. This kind peasant moves to a square in the royal castle in order to make a new goal in his life while dreaming about a different job. Now, this farmer feels that his dream job is not all that he had hoped would be where things get complicated completely.
Crossing Swords is more like the adult-oriented version of Playmobil: The Movie, trying to recreate a successful formula without understanding what made it work.
A smarter show would burrow into the disillusionment as a rookie squire learns his dream is rotten on the inside, but there's simply no time, what with all the circumcision gags that need to be made.
"Swords" is occasionally funny but more often settles for outrageous, which may work to a degree the first time, but grows tiresome and dull in repetition.
