Over the last fifteen years Peter Rees has forged a reputation for innovative content, new production models and consistent ratings success.Between 2000 and 2006 he created, cast, and Executive Produced Discovery Channels award winning science series MythBusters. He guided the show through seventy episodes, twelve specials and onto screens on every continent and in eleven languages. During his time as Executive Producer the series became the number one ad-supported cable program in US prime time among persons 25-54. Over 8 million US viewers watched the MythBusters 2005 Shark Week "Jaws" special.Prior to MythBusters, Peter created, developed, produced, wrote and directed more than 30 hours of factual television programming for international broadcast. He has successfully brought a wide range of stories to the small screen, ranging from the ancient practice of intentional human cranial deformation to the discovery of the deadly "assassin caterpillar" of Brazil. His work has won a number of industry awards and honors including the 2005 Silver Dragon from the Beijing International Science Festival.Peter is an adventurer, experimenter, and presenter in his own right. In 1993 he circumnavigated the globe by land and sea to win the Charles Heidsieck International Travel Challenge. He has spoken extensively in public on science and broadcasting issues including presentations for: the International Skeptics Society, the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers, and on behalf of the Discovery Channel. In 2006 Peter devised a successful Guinness World record attempt in which a Danish family car was transformed into an aircraft a rocket powered hydroplane, and a dragster.Peter was born on a Naval base in Death Valley California, but grew up in Sydney Australia. He is a graduate of Australia's leading broadcasting and production institution, the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. He has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature/ Historical Archaeology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies and is qualified to drive a forklift and shoot a handgun safely in the State of California.
