Rapper and activist Keller Mike presents a new series of wonderful comics that we live through his revolutionary ideas about social change that he has been planning for a long time. The series begins with Killer Mike deciding to help some people launch a product to compete with Coca-Cola after there was great concern that Crips and other bands did not earn much of their own money.
CRITICS OF "Trigger Warning with Killer Mike - Season 1"
The Daily Dot
More or less an imperfect, six-episode thought experiment, Trigger Warning finds the affable Run the Jewels MC serving humor, absurdity, and truth in equal portions.
He's a confident, ursine screen presence, a fierce opponent of corporate hegemony and a Bernie Sanders fan. But more importantly, Killer Mike is an open, original thinker who lets his experiments breathe and grow.
Mike has a solid point of view, but he's also big hearted and charming, which goes a very long way to invite people to learn about subjects they'd otherwise never think about.
Killer Mike is a very enjoyable host and first-person character. Of course, that only makes the episodes where he takes a back seat and is not as central a figure falter.
While Killer Mike is a refreshing straight shooter onstage and as a talking head on CNN and elsewhere, his new six-part Netflix series Trigger Warning feels like it wafted over half-baked from Viceland with the social experiment munchies.
