The documentary series follows a special case of Nature's Challenge, where Slow Burn's Leon Neyfakh is based on the search for strange sub-charts and forgotten characters. It is a different and unique journey in order to reveal these characters within modern political history, and this series may find a surprising parallel so far in different tracks.
The series takes a fittingly slow-burn approach that doesn't get us to the Saturday Night Massacre and nascent impeachment process until the sixth hour-long episode.
Future podcasters looking to adapt their content to television would do well to follow Slow Burn's clean and simple example - heavy on archival film, with only a modicum of self-conscious visual filigree.
If you're a fan of the Slow Burn podcast, or if you've never heard it before, you'll find out new information about Watergate during this docuseries. You just have to get past the aren't-we-clever podcast shtick first.
