There is a tribe whose individuals have an uncommon blessing, they don't get older when they progress toward becoming in the adolescent age. There is a pretty young lady from this group named Maquia who feels so exhausted from her life. At some point, an armed force attack her town. She flees, at that point she meets a good looking person, Erial. They enter together a sentimental relationship however by what means will it go when Erial gets older and Maquia remains at her age.
We don't even notice how deep Okada has driven her storytelling dagger until she pulls it out in the end, and the tears come, adding, to the bitterness and sweetness of this moving and strange little fable, a hefty dose of salt.
I could easily find myself dismissing these stories strangely told stories and miss out on a beautiful tale, simply because it's different. If you're not a fan of anime, give it try. Be open and patient.
