The American on-screen character, Ashley Bell experiences an energizing experience trying to safeguard a 70-year old blind weak Asian elephant who struggles in her life. She is joined by an expert group and Lek Chailert, an old lady who has enormous experience with elephants.
Love & Elephants has a message to impart but it's never preachy or pedantic. It accomplishes its goals with heartfelt enthusiasm. What more could one ask of a documentary?
It's at times a heart-warming tale and it certainly comes from a place of ethical accountability, but Love & Bananas: An Elephant Story barely skims the surface of its subject matter.
Anyone who loves elephants (and if you don't, I want nothing to do with you...seriously) is bound to adore Ashley Bell's deeply affecting documentary about efforts to save the Asian elephant.
