Raymond Ray Alverado (mistakenly called 'Avacado', 'Alveraz' and 'Aloe Vera' by Danielle Atron) is a young boy of African American descent the same age as Alex, and Alex's best friend in the world. Ray has very few other friends aside from Annie Mack, Dave Watt, Robyn Russo, Louis Driscoll and Nicole Wilson. Ray also has a girlfriend in season 4 called Rachael. Ray lives with his single father in a house close to the Mack Family's house. The absence of Ray's mom is never mentioned, but in the tie-in book series, the noel 'Zappy Holidays!' mentions that unfortunately, Ray's mom died from some illness when he was a little kid, and he still often grieves over her. Some of Ray's many talents include basketball, saxophone, mountain biking, practical jokes and videography. Unluckily for him, he isn't very talented in schoolwork and is more of a class clown than anything else. Although a comic relief character and a secondary protagonist in the first couple of seasons of the show, Ray becomes more mature and serious by the fourth season although he still keeps his sense of humor.Ray despises the chemical plant and most of its workers, however he gets along well with George Mack and Dave Watt. At first, Ray believes that Danielle Atron might not be such a bad person, but in the episode 'The Videotape', she calls him annoying and makes fun of him, so he tries to get back at her by helping Alex break into the plant. Ray and Alex do have their arguments, but they are very close friends for the most part. Show less «
